MASTER CLASS Violin-Viola Olga Holdorff

The Underground Youth Orchestra, expanding its educational activity, starts a series of master classes with teachers from Europe, aiming at the continuous evolution of the members of the orchestra. Opportunity to participate in master classes is provided to members of the orchestra and a selected number of young musicians. The first master class for violins-viola will take place on November 5-6 with Olga Holdorff at the Concert Hall. Those interested should register in the form below.

Olga Holdorff was born in Berlin (her father was German, her mother Greek from Chios island). She had her first courses of violin at the age of 4, while at the age of 14 she received the national scholarship for preparatory studies. She received her diplomas in violin as an educator and an orchestra musician from the Berlin University of Arts (UdK Berlin) where she studied with Tomasz Tomaszewski (concertmaster Deutsche Oper Berlin) and the University of Music and Theater of Leipzig „Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” where she studied with Lothar Strauß (concertmaster at the Staatsoper Berlin).
She has played at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, Komische Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Hannover, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Berliner Sinfoniker, as well as with various chamber music ensembles, such as Ensemble Lux:nm and Ensemble Modern (Paxi Summer Academy). She played regularly at the Infektion Festival for New Music Theatre of the Berlin State Opera.
Olga Holdorff has founded the Berlin Music Ensemble, which received the Quarterly Critics‘ Choice from the renowned German Record Critics Award (Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik) in 2018.
She also co-founded the Chios Music Festival on Chios island. It takes place twice per year, winter and summer edition, including Concerts (jazz, classic, contemporary music), music theatre, workshops, seminars, exhibitions and more.
She also co-founded the Sebun Quartet in 2019. The 4 members of the string quartet spezializes in music from the 7 countries the musicians come from: Greek/German, Russian/Armenian, Turkish, Japanese/Chinese music. The program includes classical, contemporary and traditional music.

Teaching activity:
Olga Holdorff has been teaching since the age of 15. At the University of Arts (UdK Berlin) she taught substitute methodology in the subject violin. Since 2010, she prepares students and young students for their examens and auditions in Germany. She has taught music under the auspices of the Barenboim-Said-Foundation in Palestine and for El Sistema in Venezuela, where she gave also seminars and concerts, founded by Deutscher Musikrat and Goethe Institut.
